LEWES, DE (August 22, 2003) Have you ever wondered what it would
be like to
play on a pro tour? How you get started (lots of money!) and what
it's like to live
out of a suitcase and play golf every morning? Now you can read
all about it
at www.cyclonicgolf.com.
Kevin Gessino-Kraft, the current leading money winner on the Gateway
Beach Tour,
is documenting his tour experiences in an online journal sponsored
by Cyclonic
Golf Shoes. With the Cyclonic sponsorship Gessino-Kraft headed out
on the Gateway
Tour and battles weather, moving boxes and some pretty tough competition.
Pro golfers
are real people too, and this journal tells it all. Gessino-Kraft
reveals the emotional ups
and downs, waiting for the other players to finish knowing that
his paycheck hangs in the balance.
“I loved being able to use my English degree to share my
experience on the tour,”
said Gessino-Kraft. “A lot of guys dream about being a tour
pro. I know I always did.
My dream’s become a reality. But while there are lots of good
days, not everyday can
be dream-like. The journal is more of a reality check.”
Gessino-Kraft is the leading money winner on the Gateway Beach
Tour, having won
the Intel Classic and the Legends Group Classic. Prior to the Gateway
Beach Tour,
Gessino-Kraft had three wins and was the leading money winner in
the 2002/2003
NGA/Hooters Winter Tour.
Here’s an excerpt from the journal:
“The key to starting out the last day with the lead is to
get off to a good start. You don't
want to let other players into the fray early; you want to have
them work for it. I got my
good start on Thursday. Birdies at #1 and #2 gave me a real boost
and then I went on
to birdie #6, #7, and #9 to post 30 on the front for the second
time that week. A birdie
at #10 and a par on #11 left me with a 7 shot lead with 7 holes
to play. Now that is
what a player likes to see! “
Cyclonic's sponsorship strategy has been to select young golfers
in the tours that serve
as springboards to the PGA Tour who demonstrate promise and who
need sponsorship
support to remain active tour professionals. Sponsored players are
selected for their
talent and their spirit.
